CBM Calculator Guide
Learn how to calculate CBM (Cubic Meter) for your shipments accurately.
What is CBM?
CBM stands for Cubic Meter. It is the unit used to measure the volume of a shipment. Shipping companies use CBM to calculate freight charges. Accurate CBM calculation helps you get precise shipping quotes and plan your budget.
How to Calculate CBM
Measure Your Carton
First, measure the dimensions of one carton in Centimeters (cm). You need three measurements:
- Length (L)Longest side
- Width (W)Shorter side
- Height (H)Vertical side
Apply the Formula
The formula to calculate CBM for one carton is:
*Note: This formula assumes measurements are in Centimeters (cm).
Calculate Total Volume
Multiply the CBM of one carton by the total number of cartons to get the total volume of your shipment.
Total CBM = (CBM per Carton) × (Total Number of Cartons)
Real World Example
Suppose you have 50 cartons with these dimensions:
- Length: 60 cm
- Width: 40 cm
- Height: 30 cm
1. Calculate CBM for one carton:
(60 × 40 × 30) ÷ 1,000,000 = 0.072 CBM
2. Calculate Total CBM:
0.072 × 50 Cartons = 3.6 Total CBM
